Customer Engineer, Security

“Security. Convenience. Pick one.”

Q: What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

A: I love working with my customers to solve complex security challenges at a global scale.

Q: Which security content do you like sharing with others or appreciate that is shared with you?

A: I love reading, so any deep dives into nerdy topics like attacker methodology will always catch my eye. The blog posts by Mandiant/Google Threat Intelligence Group are super fun reads.

Q: What's one thing you wish more people knew about cyber security?

A: Security is a journey, not an end-state. Bad actors never stop trying, and it's important that we as practitioners do the same.

Q: How do you stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments?

A: I read and listen to podcasts; DarkReading, TheHackerNews, Telegram channels, and Substacks are my go-to sources.

Q: What’s one book, podcast, or resource you’d recommend to others in your field?:

A: Security Now: A great weekly breakdown of the latest cybercrime and hacking stories.

No Such Podcast (by the NSA): Offers a cool look into how the NSA approached threats in the past.

Fun Fact: I may or may not have gotten my start in security by way of hacking payphone systems in the 90s.
