We’re excited to announce that Classic reCAPTCHA customers will soon have access to all of our latest features on Google Cloud Platform. By the end of 2025 all Google reCAPTCHA keys will be associated with a Google Cloud project, uniting all of reCAPTCHA under a single set of features, terms and pricing structure.

We have been innovating on GCP since 2020, but much of these enhancements have been out of reach for our longest tenured customers. This change will unlock access to advanced features such as account defender, multi-factor authentication, password leak detection, related account detection, payment fraud prevention, SMS fraud prevention, Cloud Armor integration, third party WAF integrations, Express protection for environments without a client SDK, mobile SDKs for Android and iOS platforms, platform logs, audit logging and fraud intelligence reports.

We have also leveraged the GCP console to build a rich suite of dashboards, with integration into Google Cloud Monitoring and the Looker platform to enable custom dashboards, monitoring, reporting and alerts.

How will it work?

  1. We will send out a notice to all Classic customers early in 2025 to alert them to this upcoming update.

  2. The update will happen in phases throughout the year with a second email notification as keys become eligible. We will automatically provision a Google Cloud project for eligible keys soon after that notice.

  3. Thereafter, customers will be able to sign into the GCP Console to manage reCAPTCHA and access the latest features.

What do you need to do?
No action is required, but we recommend the following:

  1. Get ahead of this process by following these instructions. For customers who already use other GCP products, this would be a great way to prescribe exactly which GCP project you associate with your reCAPTCHA key. And for all customers, doing so will immediately enable Enterprise-grade dashboarding, monitoring, reporting, logging, auditing and access control features available via the Google Cloud Console.

  2. Check your monthly usage in the Classic Admin Console and use this pricing calculator to forecast what if any charges will apply to your usage. Heavy users with millions of monthly assessments will likely benefit from a conversation with our sales team to discuss volume discounts.

Will this update require any code changes?
No. You may continue to safely use your key on the legacy SiteVerify API endpoint even after this update. However, to get the full benefits of reCAPTCHA on GCP we do also recommend that you migrate to the current CreateAssessment API endpoint.
