Hello Google Security team,

I am having questions about Cloud. Is that possible to buy licences for a certain amount of peuple only or do I have to buy a pack?

Thanks.

Ethan

Hi  @ethan06 , welcome to the community! 👋

Great question — licensing in Google Cloud doesn’t work like fixed “packs.”

🔑 How licensing works

  • Pay‑as‑you‑go services → Most Google Cloud products (Compute Engine, BigQuery, Vertex AI, etc.) are billed based on actual usage, not per‑user packs.

  • Per‑user licenses → For certain third‑party software (like Microsoft Office or Windows Server), Google Cloud offers License Manager where you can buy exactly the number of licenses you need.

  • Bring Your Own License (BYOL) → If you already have vendor agreements (Microsoft EA, Red Hat Cloud Access), you can apply those licenses directly in Google Cloud.

✅ What this means for you

  • You don’t have to buy a large pack if you only need a few licenses.

  • You can scale up or down depending on the number of people using the service.

  • For Google Cloud native services, you’re billed purely on consumption.

👉 In short: yes, it’s possible to buy licenses for a certain number of people only — you’re not forced into a fixed pack. For most services, you simply pay for what you use.

Kind regards,
