Auto-migration 150 classic reCaptcha keys

We manage more than 100 classic V2 and V3 reCaptcha keys on https://www.google.com/recaptcha/admin.
We have already manually transferred some of these to Google Cloud Console.

For example:
- We manually migrated the reCaptcha keys from clientsite1.com to a new project called “clientsite1” in Google Cloud Console.
- We manually migrated the keys from clientsite2.com to a new project called “clientsite2” in Google Cloud Console.
- We manually migrated the keys from clientsite3.com to a new project called “clientsite3” in Google Cloud Console.
And so on.

But this is an impossible task because we manage a total of 150 domain names for all our customers.

When Google migrates the remaining classic reCaptcha keys to Google Cloud Console at the end of this year, how will Google decide which project they will all go to?

- Will they all end up in one new project in Google Cloud Console?
- Or in an existing project?
- Or will each classic key go to a separate project (with a clear, unique name)?

Hi @RBV,

A new Google Cloud project will be created for each unique combination of owners found on your classic keys. All keys that share that exact same set of owners will be migrated to the same Google Cloud project.

Will they all end up in one new project in Google Cloud Console?

It depends. If all of your keys all share the same owners, they will all end up in the same project.

Or in an existing project?

No, all auto-migrated keys will be associated with a new Cloud project.

Or will each classic key go to a separate project (with a clear, unique name)?

This would only be the case if all of your keys have a distinct set of owners (e.g. an admin email and a unique client email). All of the projects would have unique project ids, but the id is randomly generated and doesn’t expose any key details.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello Emily,

Thank you for your answer!

All our classic keys have the same owner (one e-mail address). This means that everything would end up in one and the same project within Google Cloud Console if Google were to perform the migration automatically, as I understand it.
1. Are there any disadvantages (or advantages) to having all these keys in the same project?
2. Also in terms of billing calculations? Will we then reach the limit of the number of Assessments per month for that project more quickly, resulting in higher costs?

@RBV

Billing for reCAPTCHA is done at the Google Cloud Platform organization-level (not per key, or per domain). Here is a breakdown of the pricing tiers.
